Another great day for racing. Perfect weather conditions and the track itself. Polish Karting League has sent reinforcements to help Martin and Cezary. So our Championship got richier by a several new participants. This time there were 14 racers competing for 6 medals, 3 podium spots and 1 top scorer. Karlis Ligeris and Igor Scavlev couldn’t prolong their gokart licences therefore weren’t participating this time, but they promised to fix everything by the next stage. We’re glad to welcome back Oskars Karlsons who returned from a long bike trip!
Qualification session showed that previous stage’s winner Martin Brzezinka is very good in setting best lap times. He took pole position followed by Ireneusz Siewert and Cezary Blawat. Swedish representative Viktor Gars showed 6th best time followed by Anatoly Hramov. Gap between best lap times of the first and the last contender was 4,5 seconds.
In semi-final Ireneusz took the lead right away, but by the end of the first lap gave it away to pole setter. By the end of lap 2 he let two more gokarts pass him by. Somewhere in the tail several people spun and lost many positions. Jonas Stendahl did a good job and fought his way through from 9th till 4th. Jarek Kwapisz was driving in the top 5, but spun during heavy breaking in the pack and was dropped down to 10th. He was then battling with Oskars Karlsons and Robert Ulmanski. Martin B. had a good margin in the front. Martin Krus and Cezary switched their places in the start and held it that way. Ireneusz was holding 4 karts behind himself who were fighting against each other. But he still felt some pressure, and that let him do some mistakes like going too wide in several corners. One of those grassdriving cost him 4 places. Both Martins made 1-2 on the finish. Cezary came 3rd.
In the final start Martin B. held his leader position. Jonas had a good start climbing to the 2nd. Robert U. has made even better progress gaining six positions by the end of lap 1. In the first corner Ireneusz and Robert Borkowski spun and were dropped back. Later another two spins demonstrated Adam Mietus and Viktor Gars. Robert U. continued climbing overtaking yet another drivers. On lap 4 Anatoly lost some positions after contact with Oskars. He had then to fight his way back, but could gain only one spot. In the front Martin B. wasn’t already so confident with his leadership. Martin K. and Cezary were hanging tight on his tail. On lap 8 Mr. Krus was able to overtake Mr. Brzezinka, who went a bit wide in the hairpin, and took the lead. On the final lap Robert U. and Jonas were already attacking Martin K., but Martin B. let them through as well as Cezary and finished only 5th. Martin Krus won the race and became the 6th driver who had a victory this season and 3rd who did it in his first race in our Championship! Congrats, Martin! Robert Ulmanski showed the class and finished 2nd while starting on P13! Jonas Stendahl made several nice moves in this race that helped him get the final spot on the podium. Anatoly Hramov didn’t get any medal for the first time. Viktor Gars took P3 from Igor in the Championship standings. Martin K. and Jonas entered top 10.
During both race sessions there were several episodes of non-fair racing that are now under investigation. Decisions and proving videos will be posted shortly.
Next time we’ll race on Hälla Ring in Västerås on the 26th of September. We hope to see you all there!
