It was the 4th time we visited Norrtälje, but we have never raced there in dry conditions! Until this year. Tommie took TQ with Igor 2nd and Kristoffer 3rd. In the Semi-Final Kristoffer slinged shot from his place and took an early lead. But on the half-lap he went too wide and spun back to the track right in front of everybody. Luckily no one hit him and Kristoffer’s kart remained intact. But he lost all the positions and had to start all over again. Igor lost position to Berke, but he was able to hold back Mattias. For a while. The Championship leader found the way through eventually. Berke was on Tommie’s tail all the way until he made a successful move on the main straight. Now Berke was leading. Championship rookie Joel was too optimistic while chasing Igor, so he bumped and spun the Latvian. Igor lost 2 more positions while Joel was later penalized. Kristoffer was able to move up a few positions. Another Championship rookie Oskar went into the wall of tires while being lapped. Welcome to GoKart PRIX! 🙂 But Berke won this session and earned the right to start from pole-position in the Final. He wished it was already a Final. 🙂
From the very start of the main race Tommie got 1st place. Berke couldn’t do anything but defend himself from Kristoffer’s attacks. Who was, in fact, defending from Mattias’ attacks. But surprisingly both Kristoffer and Mattias, and also Igor, overtook Berke at once when the Turk lost his momentum and went wide while being passed by Kristoffer. Not a good outcome for Berke. Despite the overtake Kristoffer really had to use all his skills to defend from Mattias. This situation was used by Igor who passed Mattias. Not for long though. Swede got back his spot and moved on to press Kristoffer. But he just couldn’t find the door. Then Igor was back in the fight and took P3. So now he was searching for the door. Didn’t find it and let Mattias try again. And he succeeded! But Igor just stuck behind Kristoffer until the end of the heat. As a result Tommie won his first GoKart PRIX race. Mattias is still pulling away from everybody else in the standings. And Kristoffer took the bronze while building up the gap from Igor.
With Tomas being absent in this race Berke is settling himself on P4 in standings. There are 4 races left and there’s a good chance that the top list might stay the same by the end of this season. Meanwhile we thank all the participants and Gokart for Alla staff for this event and we move to Katrineholm!
