Only one day left until our Birthday weekend and we thought it’s a good time to remind you about our previous race. There were regular participants attending, as well as a couple of new ones and also one from the 2019 season.
In Qualification people were showing their best lap times (duh). The 2015 Ös-We Ring winner Karlis could only show the 5th result. Berke was 4th. Pavel closed the top 3 of fastest times. Igor was 2nd and TQ went to Mattias!
Semi-Final started with Pavel, Karlis and Berke overtook Igor. Pavel was closing down to Mattias, but suddenly spun after the hairpin letting almost everybody go through. Then Igor, Berke and Tommie were fighting for 3rd. Then for 2nd against Karlis, who was fighting back until he made a mistake and found himself off the track letting Igor pass. He still was chasing the top 3 until the unfortunate chain of events led him to spin and lose 5 positions. Berke stayed on Igor’s tail while Tommie and Pavel had a battle for P4 that Tommie won. In the front Mattias was far ahead and crossed the finish line first, followed by Igor and Berke.
Igor started the Final better than Semi-Final keeping his P2 despite attacks from Berke. Behind them the others were trying to get the best outcome from the 1st and 2nd turns. Some little pushes here and there didn’t really make a difference in the peloton. However, Berke couldn’t stand his ground against Tommie and after some laps even Pavel passed him by. Karlis was also trying to do something, but in the end he remained where he started. Tommie was trying to stay close to Igor who was trying to stay close to Mattias. The Latvian driver was waiting for a mistake by the Swede, but the reigning champion didn’t choke and won the race taking even 2 extra points for the fastest lap. Igor and Tommie stepped up on the podium as well.
After 5 races Mattias is only 10 points away from Igor, however we should now look more to the next column where we show the score excluding 4 worst race results. And so far Mattias looks better that way with 2 victories against 1 by Igor. Kristoffer and Mika look very strong as well!
The leaderboard can change drastically after this Saturday, because there will be 2 races to count! Registrations are still available, so don’t miss your chance to participate in the main race of the season!
We thank all participants for the great race in June, as well as Gokart Stadion ÖS-WE Ring staff! Race documentation you can find here.
