GoKart PRIX returned to Nyköping to do a 2nd race in a row. But this time the race setup changed to QSR. Previous race’s winner Norton couldn’t participate due to arm injury and he was replaced by his father Johan. There was also 1 guest driver participating. He showed 2nd best lap time in Qualification after Berke. 3rd was Mattias. This grid before the first race session of the day looked promising for Berke as he had to gain some points from Mattias in order to move a title decider to Kista.
The Semi-Final Adam started well and was side-by-side with leading Berke in turn 1. Unfortunately for Berke, tires found him before he finished the turn. He got stuck and lost all positions. The biggest gainer of this incident was Johan who jumped up to 2nd place and a couple of corners later took the lead. Adam was closely followed by Mattias who was closely followed by Igor. Some laps later Igor passed Mattias, but lost it to him and passed him again. Berke managed to gain 2 positions before the session finished.
Bad start for Igor in the Final as he lost 2 positions to Mattias and Berke. The Turk had nothing to lose so he was fighting Mattias hard. But even with this battle Igor’s kart couldn’t keep up with their pace. So the gap just became bigger and bigger. At some point Adam managed to take the lead from Johan, but Johan made a dirty move on Adam and pushed him into the tires. The referees on the set were not equal with their opinions, but the presented video didn’t show the clear incident. So, Johan crossed the finish line first. Berke couldn’t do anything with Mattias and finished right behind him. That way Mattias was declared a 2-time champion!!!
After the race the referees looked at the video of the incident again and found tiny evidence of Johan’s illegal move. Since results were already official, he received a yellow card. Igor lost some points to Berke and almost lost chances for 2nd place in the season. But odds could still be in his favor in the last race of the year in Kista… But you may find this race’s documentation here.
