The Birthday Race started with the best lap in Qualification for Mattias. 2nd best was Berke, then Igor and Jimmy. Berke took the lead already on lap 1 of the longest race of the year. On lap 2 Mikas went 3-wide with Igor and Jimmy. This resulted in an incident between 3 of them, but only Igor managed to escape it unharmly. Mikas went info Jimmy and they both ended up in the tires. Race control saw this as a racing incident and gave no penalties. Tommy used this case to overtake Igor for 3rd. By the end of stage 1 Igor took back P3 and Mattias became the leader.
In stage 2 Tommie got in front of Igor again, while Leo was fighting Mikas for P5. No matter how hard Igor tried he couldn’t overtake Tommie, but instead let Leo through. Even Mikas passed him. Leo even managed to finish the stage 3rd in front of Tommie.
The last stage gave some hope for Berke who was running 1st again. Tommie left Leo behind and got himself P3 for a while. He was quite close to the leaders but had to fight with Leo. Behind them Mikas was fighting Igor for the 5th. In the front Mattias was breathing on the neck of Berke and tried to copy his every move in order to find the best moment to overtake. And he found it. Just like later Leo found the perfect moment for overtaking Tommie. After that the top-4 spread and there were no more battles. But Mikas still was on Igor’s tale and sometimes even managed to pass him. But not for long. At the finish line only 0,03 seconds divided them with Igor being a bit earlier. Leo got his first podium in GoKart PRIX by finishing 3rd. Berke tried, but could only come 2nd, while Mattias proved that he is now a king of Linköping by winning the 3rd Birthday mug in a row. Congrats!
In total standings Mattias took the lead of the table moving Igor on P2. But -4 race points show that even Berke overtook Igor. It’s going to be hot in the upcoming races!
