2018 GoKart PRIX was 5th season of rental gokart championship organized in Sweden by a private initiative. It started on 24th of February and finished on the 1st of December. Before Stage 1 the series organized it’s 4th Challenge CUP event that took place at Exploria Indoor Gokart – the new track with electric gokarts. There was a very close fight between Martin Brzezinka and Niklas Enholm. In the end Martin was victorious and took his 2nd CUP leading Niclas only 0,082 seconds. Niklas, however, took his first victory already in Stage 1 becoming a new winner of the Championship.
Another new track on the calendar replacing Järfälla Kartbana was Valla Raceway in Katrineholm. This venue didn’t have timing system functioning propery at that moment, so organizers had to use a video camera in order to determine finish positions. The last new track on the 2018 schedule was a 2-floor indoor track Gokartarena Dalarna. Gävle and Örebro GoKart PRIX races were replaced by returning Hälla Ring in Västerås and Gokartstadion ÖS-WE Ring which had a new name – Arlanda GoKart PRIX.
Enköping Karingbana hosted 2 races this season having the same racing setup. The only difference was that the 2nd race used weight balance. The initial idea was to make a limit of 100 kg (this gave the name of the race – Enköping 100 GoKart PRIX), but the last moment before the race started it became clear that this scenario would have complications, so the weight limit was decreased to a usual 90 kg, leaving, however, name of the race unchanged.
2014 Hyrkart Utmaning champion Anatoly Hramov won a Birthday Race for the 3rd time. Andreas Lamnerius had a record breaking 4 victories during the season and became a new GoKart PRIX champion. 10 best results of 12 were taken into account, and Andreas beat Niclas and Martin collecting the most amount of championship points. Total of 28 racers from 7 counties participated in season 2018.
